Monti Monaco celebrates re-opening

VIPs celebrate the comeback of the cult restaurant in the heart of Munich

Munich has a new culinary address—or rather, a well-known address with a new look. After more than a decade in the Schlachthofviertel, the legendary ‘Monti Monaco’ has moved to a new location on the Isar. The popular Italian restaurant celebrated its grand reopening at Steinsdorfstraße 22, just a few steps from the historic Isartor. Numerous prominent guests were in attendance.

The guest list for the re-opening

Among the guests at the opening ceremony were, among others, Simone Ballack, pop star Patrick Lindner with husband Peter Schäfer and designer Sonja Kiefer. Presenters Sylvia Walker and Eva Grünbauer, dancer Tiger Kirchharz and cyclist Denise Schindler were also there.

Fashion expert Jeannette Graf and fitness coach Barbara Klein enjoyed the evening. So did Moritz Freiherr von Crailsheim with his wife Isabelle, art expert Juana Schwan and entrepreneur René Weise.

Bella Italia in the middle of Munich

With great attention to detail, owner Sarah di Santo has reinvented the ‘Monti Monaco’ at its new location. The light-flooded 200-square-meter location with generous window fronts not only offers a stylish ambience, but also a fantastic view of the Isar.

‘’With the new location, we are moving even closer to the beating heart of Munich. Monti Monaco is intended to be a destination for people who enjoy life—whether it’s for an aperitif at the bar, a relaxed after-work or a special dinner.‘’

Italian cuisine with a modern twist

The menu remains a delight for lovers of fine Italian cuisine. Alongside classics such as tagliatelle with veal ragout, paccheri with monkfish ragout, and grilled Fiorentina steak, the new Monti Monaco also offers a selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes.

The latest addition to the menu is a handcrafted pizza. This is made with a dough that is left to rest for 24 hours and topped with the finest ingredients.

The guests were also impressed:

  • Simone Ballack, who herself is soon to open a hotel on Lake Garda. She was delighted with the culinary taste of Italy: ‘’I love being pampered here. Monti Monaco was already a favorite spot of mine in the old location.‘’
  • Patrick Lindner, a trained chef, was curious: ‘’I love Italian cuisine, and of course I’m taking a very close look at everything.‘’
  • Sonja Kiefer, a big fan of Italy, revealed with a grin: ‘’At home, pasta is rare—because of the carbohydrates.”. But here I can’t resist.‘’
  • Denise Schindler, as an athlete consciously aware of her diet, focused on fish and vegetables—or a pizza as a reward.

More than a restaurant—an Italian way of life

The ‘Monti Monaco’ is not just a place for good food but an all-round lifestyle concept. A wine bar, bistro and delicatessen shop expand the gastronomic offering. Gourmets can not only dine here, but also take fine wines and Italian specialties home with them.

The interior design combines natural materials. Such as wood and stone with elegant fabrics – a blend of coziness and modern chic.

Socialite and expert Jeannette Graf was also impressed: ‘’An Italian restaurant in the middle of the city—perfect for a break after shopping.‘’
